A Texas resident has confessed to a felony after attempting to travel without a ticket by hiding in the lavatory of a Delta Airlines flight. The incident occurred on a flight from Salt Lake City International Airport to Austin, Texas.

Wicliff Yves Fleurizard, 26, from Leander, Texas, was charged in April 2024. According to court documents and statements made during his plea hearing, Fleurizard boarded Delta Airlines flight #1683 in March 2024 and concealed himself in the lavatory. Surveillance footage captured him taking photos of other passengers' phones or boarding passes without their knowledge before boarding. He used his phone as a boarding pass but had not purchased a ticket and was unauthorized to board the plane.

Fleurizard's actions prompted the aircraft, which had already left the gate, to return where law enforcement apprehended him.

His sentencing is set for May 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. before a U.S. District Court Judge at the Orrin G. Hatch United States District Courthouse in Salt Lake City.

The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Felice Viti of the District of Utah. The investigation is being conducted by an FBI Task Force Officer with assistance from the Salt Lake City Police Department. Assistant United States Attorneys Bryan N. Reeves and Michael Kennedy are handling prosecution duties.
