U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo has announced the indictment of Jason Goodsell, 39, a former resident of Wellsville, NY. Goodsell faces seven counts of production of child pornography and one count of distribution of child pornography. These charges could lead to a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison and up to a maximum of 225 years.
Assistant U.S. Attorney David J. Rudroff, who is managing the case, explained that the indictment alleges that from June 1, 2020, to December 2, 2021, Goodsell coerced a minor into sexually explicit conduct for visual documentation purposes. Furthermore, it is alleged that in June 2022, he distributed these images.
Goodsell was arraigned before U.S. Magistrate Judge H. Kenneth Schroeder Jr. this afternoon and has been detained.
The investigation leading to the indictment was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), led by Special Agent-in-Charge Matthew Miraglia, alongside the Wellsville Police Department under Chief Timothy O’Grady's direction. Additional support came from the Pittsburgh Office of the FBI.
