Timothy Courchaine has assumed the role of Interim United States Attorney for the District of Arizona. His appointment, effective from February 28, 2025, was made by Attorney General Pam Bondi.
In his new position, Courchaine will oversee federal crime prosecutions and civil litigations involving the United States in Arizona. He leads a team of around 350 staff members, including prosecutors and civil litigators, serving a population exceeding seven million residents in the district.
Courchaine joined the District of Arizona as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in 2020. During his tenure, he has been involved in numerous criminal cases concerning border crimes and actions by Mexican-based cartels within the Southwest Border and OCDETF sections.
Before his current role with the Department of Justice, Courchaine served as a Judge Advocate in the United States Marine Corps, achieving the rank of Captain. He also worked as a law clerk for Honorable William G. Montgomery at the Arizona Supreme Court from 2019 to 2020.
His academic credentials include a J.D. from the University of Alabama obtained in 2014 and a B.A. from California State University, Long Beach, earned in 2011.
