Oak Hill man pleads guilty to federal drug charges involving methamphetamine

Nicholas D. Plumb, a 25-year-old resident of Oak Hill, West Virginia, has pleaded guilty to federal drug charges involving methamphetamine and fentanyl. The plea was entered in Beckley, West Virginia.

Court documents reveal that on August 23, 2023, law enforcement officers arrested Plumb at an apartment in Prosperity. During the arrest, officers found 45 grams of fentanyl, 144 grams of methamphetamine, and a Glock model 43X 9mm handgun in his possession. Plumb admitted to possessing these substances with the intent to distribute them.

In a separate incident on July 31, 2024, officers searched Plumb's residence and discovered 557 grams of methamphetamine. Plumb confessed to intending to distribute this quantity as well.

Plumb is scheduled for sentencing on July 25, 2025. He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years and could receive up to 40 years in prison. Additionally, he may be subject to at least four years of supervised release and a fine reaching $5 million.

The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston who praised the investigative efforts conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) along with the Raleigh County Sheriff's Office.

United States Magistrate Judge Omar J. Aboulhosn oversaw the hearing while Assistant United States Attorney Andrew D. Isabell is handling prosecution duties.
