Deangelo Lorenzo Lewis, a 28-year-old resident of Washington D.C., has been found guilty of multiple charges including unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, conspiracy to commit bank fraud, and possession with intent to distribute marijuana. The ruling was delivered today, and U.S. District Judge Loren L. AliKhan has scheduled the sentencing for May 30, 2025.
The conviction was announced by U.S. Attorney Edward R. Martin, Jr., United States Marshal Robert A. Dixon, and FBI Special Agent in Charge Sean T. Ryan from the FBI Washington Field Office Criminal and Cyber Division.
Court documents reveal that Deputy U.S. Marshals apprehended Lewis on October 3, 2023, at an apartment he rented under a stolen identity. Upon securing the premises, marshals obtained and executed a search warrant which led to the discovery of over $150,000 worth of checks suspected to be stolen from the U.S. mail, along with a check printer and blank check stock. They also found driver’s licenses and social security cards not belonging to Lewis.
Additionally, authorities discovered a Century Arms Micro Draco 7.62 x 39mm semi-automatic assault pistol loaded with 26 rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber, two 9mm handgun magazines, and about 1½ pounds of marijuana packaged for distribution.
The investigation was conducted by the United States Marshals Service with support from the FBI’s Washington Field Office. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys James B. Nelson, Justin F. Song, Jacqueline O. Yarbro, and Paralegal Specialist Jenna Lee.
