Marc H. Silverman, Acting United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that Marc Anthony Alexander has been sentenced to 24 months in prison for violating conditions of his supervised release. U.S. District Judge Vernon D. Oliver delivered the statutory maximum sentence in Hartford.
Alexander, 44, was previously convicted for his involvement in two fraud schemes and sentenced to 96 months in prison in April 2017. These schemes involved defrauding the U.S. Postal Service of over $300,000 through postal money orders and defrauding lenders of more than $1 million through fraudulent vehicle sales. He was released from federal custody in February 2023.
In February 2024, while on supervised release, Alexander was arrested by Stamford Police for multiple offenses related to illegal motor vehicle operation under the influence and without proper documentation. Later that year, he allegedly used a falsified bank statement to purchase a vehicle in Dartmouth, Massachusetts. He also violated other terms of his release by misreporting his address to his probation officer, leaving Connecticut without permission, and opening nine new lines of credit.
Alexander's criminal history includes further fraud convictions. He has been held in federal custody since January 13, 2025.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Ray Miller prosecuted this case.
