A Dominican Republic national, Yudelkis Portes, has been sentenced to 37 months in federal prison for illegal reentry into the United States after deportation. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Richard A. Lazzara.

Portes, aged 43, pleaded guilty on December 4, 2024. Her previous conviction dates back to February 28, 2013, when she was found guilty of conspiracy to commit access device fraud and aggravated identity theft. Following this conviction, Portes was deported from the United States to the Dominican Republic.

Despite her deportation, Portes returned illegally to the United States. The investigation into her illegal reentry was conducted by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Assistant United States Attorney Ross Roberts prosecuted the case.
