A Saint Paul man and a Mounds View woman have been sentenced to prison for their involvement in an armed carjacking incident in Minneapolis. Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa D. Kirkpatrick announced that Carvon Antonio Saine, 19, will serve 51 months, while Isis Martinaz Brent, also known as Jayda Marie White, 20, will serve 41 months.

Court documents reveal that on October 6, 2023, Saine and Brent approached an elderly victim who had parked a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu in South Minneapolis. Brent brandished a Carl Walther 9mm semiautomatic pistol and demanded the victim's keys. During the incident, an associate of Brent’s forcibly took the victim's bags, causing injury to the victim's hands and knees. The vehicle was later found abandoned due to mechanical issues.

Shortly after this event, Brent and Saine attempted another carjacking in a parking lot on Chicago Avenue South. Brent again brandished the Walther pistol at a second victim but was unsuccessful as the victim managed to escape.

Both individuals were sentenced by Judge John R. Tunheim in U.S. District Court for aiding and abetting a carjacking.

The case was investigated by the Minneapolis Police Department and the FBI, with Assistant U.S. Attorney David Green prosecuting.
