South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson has announced the arrest of Reginald Fitzgerald Williams, Jr., a 38-year-old resident of Travelers Rest, South Carolina. Williams faces three charges related to the sexual exploitation of a minor. The arrest was carried out by Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force investigators from the Greenville County Sheriff's Office, with assistance from the Attorney General's Office.
The investigation into Williams began after a CyberTipline report was received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). According to investigators, Williams is accused of producing child sexual abuse material.
Williams was taken into custody on February 13, 2025. He has been charged with three counts of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor (§16-15-395), which is classified as a felony offense. Each count carries a potential penalty of up to 20 years in prison.
The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General's Office. Attorney General Wilson emphasized that "all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law."
The term "child sexual abuse material" or CSAM is used to describe this type of crime more accurately than "pornography," which may incorrectly suggest consent by the child involved. This change in terminology reflects global efforts to address these crimes appropriately.
