U.S. District Judge John Antoon II has sentenced Richard Eugene Findley, a 63-year-old resident of Daytona Beach, to three years and nine months in federal prison. The sentencing follows Findley's guilty plea on April 30, 2024, for charges of theft of government money and aggravated identity theft.

Findley is required to pay restitution to the Social Security Administration, the Department of Agriculture, and the victim whose identity he stole. Court documents reveal that Findley acquired identification documents belonging to an individual referred to as E.G. in the 1990s. He used these documents without permission to fraudulently obtain government benefits such as a Florida driver license, Social Security benefits, and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.

The investigation was conducted by several agencies including the Social Security Administration - Office of the Inspector General, U.S. Department of Agriculture - Office of Inspector General, Homeland Security Investigations, and U.S. Department of Labor - Office of Inspector General. Special Assistant United States Attorney Matthew Del Mastro prosecuted the case.
