Adair County resident pleads guilty to involuntary manslaughter

Jade Larae Duncan, a 27-year-old resident of Stilwell, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to one count of involuntary manslaughter in Indian Country. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced the plea.

The indictment stated that on December 2, 2022, Duncan unlawfully killed an individual while committing an unlawful act not amounting to a felony. The incident occurred as she drove under the influence of alcohol and veered off the roadway into a creek bed. This event took place in Adair County, within the Cherokee Nation Reservation's boundaries.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, and the Adair County Sheriff’s Department.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Gerald L. Jackson accepted Duncan's plea in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. A presentence investigation report has been ordered.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Patrick M. Flanigan, Lewis M. Reagan, and T. Cameron McEwen represented the United States in this case.
