Jason Edward Lewis, a 48-year-old resident of Kenefic, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to one count of assault with intent to commit murder in Indian Country. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma made the announcement following Lewis's plea.
According to the Superseding Indictment, Lewis committed the assault on or about July 10, 2024. The incident took place in Bryan County, within the boundaries of the Choctaw Nation Reservation, part of the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
The investigation into the crime was conducted by several agencies including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Choctaw Nation Lighthorse Police, and Bryan County Sheriff's Office.
The plea was accepted by U.S. Magistrate Judge D. Edward Snow at the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. A presentence investigation report has been ordered by Judge Snow. Until sentencing is finalized, Lewis will remain in custody under the United States Marshals Service.
