A Jackson man has been sentenced to 51 months in prison for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Freddie Antwan McField, aged 44, was found with the weapon by Hinds County Sheriff’s Office deputies on August 28, 2023. McField has previous felony convictions including armed robbery, kidnapping, and motor vehicle theft.
The federal grand jury indicted McField on January 9, 2024, for being a felon in possession of a firearm. He entered a guilty plea on November 5, 2024.
The announcement was made by Acting U.S. Attorney Patrick A. Lemon of the Southern District of Mississippi and Special Agent in Charge Robert Eikhoff from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
The investigation was conducted by the FBI alongside the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Matt Allen prosecuted the case.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative that collaborates with various levels of law enforcement and communities to reduce violent crime and gun violence. The program aims to make neighborhoods safer through fostering trust within communities, supporting organizations that prevent violence, setting strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring outcomes.
