Maine Supreme Judicial Court seeks input on bar admission rule changes

The Maine Supreme Judicial Court is seeking public input on proposed changes to the Maine Bar Admission Rules. These amendments would permit admission to the Maine bar without examination, but only for individuals already admitted in jurisdictions that offer reciprocal terms for members of the Maine bar.

Comments on this proposal must be submitted by 4:00 p.m. on March 6, 2025. Submissions can be made via mail or email to lawcourt.clerk@courts.maine.gov. If emailing, attachments should be in a text-based PDF format. The Clerk's Office will confirm receipt of emailed comments.

Submissions must include the name and mailing address of the individual or organization providing feedback, as well as a primary telephone number if applicable. Both attorneys and non-attorneys are welcome to comment.

All comments will become public records and may appear on the court's website.
