Benz Coleman, a 34-year-old resident of Colonie, New York, received a 90-month prison sentence for possessing fentanyl and cocaine with the intent to distribute. The announcement was made by United States Attorney Carla B. Freedman and Frank A. Tarentino III, Special Agent in Charge of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), New York Division.
Coleman admitted to having over 3,000 fentanyl pills and more than 13 grams of cocaine on January 31, 2024, which he intended to distribute. He also confessed to selling over 2,400 fentanyl pills between November 1, 2023, and January 31, 2024.
Senior United States District Judge Lawrence E. Kahn sentenced Coleman and imposed an additional five-year term of supervised release following his prison term.
The case was investigated by the DEA and the Colonie Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Rick Belliss prosecuted the case.
