Dario Mata-Manzo, a 33-year-old Mexican national living in Fresno, has been sentenced to eight years and eight months in prison for distributing methamphetamine. The announcement was made by Acting U.S. Attorney Michele Beckwith.
Court documents reveal that in June 2022, Mata-Manzo arranged the sale of crystal methamphetamine at $1,200 per pound and delivered eight pounds of the drug to undercover officers in Fresno. He was linked to an interstate poly-drug trafficking organization.
The investigation involved multiple agencies including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Drug Enforcement Administration, Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, and the High Impact Investigation Team (HIIT), part of a High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Initiative (HIDTA). This initiative includes personnel from various law enforcement agencies such as the California Department of Justice and several county sheriff's offices. Assistant U.S. Attorney Karen Escobar prosecuted the case.
The case was part of efforts under the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF), which aims to identify and dismantle high-level criminal organizations threatening the United States through a collaborative approach involving prosecutors and intelligence-driven strategies.
