Carla B. Freedman, U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of New York

Kyle Taylor, a 29-year-old resident of Malden, Massachusetts, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison. The sentence was handed down last month following his convictions for distributing methamphetamine, possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, and conspiring to possess with intent to distribute fentanyl.

The announcement was made by United States Attorney Carla B. Freedman and Bryan Miller, Special Agent in Charge of the New York Field Division of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF).

Taylor pled guilty in September 2024. During his plea, he admitted to selling multiple firearms and controlled substances to an individual in Rensselaer County between September 2023 and January 2024. Specifically, Taylor acknowledged selling two firearms on separate occasions in October 2023 while also distributing controlled substances each time. In December 2023, Taylor and a co-conspirator sold over 400 fentanyl pills along with approximately 25 grams of fentanyl powder to the same person.

United States District Judge Mae A. D’Agostino also imposed a four-year term of supervised release following Taylor's incarceration.

The ATF led the investigation into this case with support from the Troy Police Department as well as police departments from Brookline and Cambridge in Massachusetts. Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph S. Hartunian prosecuted the case.
