A Waterville man has been sentenced to three years in prison for his involvement in the theft of firearms from a federally licensed dealer. Damiean Marcial-Alexander, aged 22, received the sentence from U.S. District Judge Stacey D. Neumann in Bangor's U.S. District Court. Following his prison term, he will serve three years of supervised release and is required to pay $17,253.37 in restitution.
Marcial-Alexander admitted guilt on May 30, 2024, to charges related to the conspiracy and theft that occurred in April 2022. Court documents reveal that Marcial-Alexander and Ryan Ansart broke into a firearms dealer located in Waterville and stole several firearms, including a Glock Model 17 Gen5 9mm pistol and a Smith & Wesson .38 special revolver.
The ATF Theft/Loss Report filed by the store owner indicated that a total of 15 firearms were stolen: six revolvers and nine semi-automatic pistols. Evidence such as Instagram messages, text communications planning the crime, a map leading from Marcial-Alexander’s residence to the dealer's location, and photographs of both men with some of the stolen guns were gathered during the investigation.
Ryan Ansart, also aged 22 and hailing from West Springfield, Massachusetts, confessed on August 22, 2024, to his participation in the crime. He is due for sentencing on February 11.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives led the investigation with support from the Waterville Police Department.
