David Lamont Hicks, a 48-year-old resident of Steubenville, Ohio, has been sentenced to 81 months in federal prison for distributing methamphetamine. The sentencing took place in Wheeling, West Virginia.
The case involved a drug investigation where law enforcement searched an apartment on Wheeling Island. During the search, Hicks attempted to flee on foot but was subsequently arrested. Authorities recovered methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia from the location. Hicks has a criminal history that includes aggravated robbery, drug trafficking, and attempted burglary.
Following his imprisonment, Hicks will undergo three years of supervised release. Assistant U.S. Attorney Carly Nogay led the prosecution for this case.
The investigation was conducted by the Ohio Valley Drug Task Force, which is supported by HIDTA funding, alongside the Wheeling Police Department. The proceedings were overseen by U.S. District Judge John Preston Bailey.
