Hon. Catherine R. Connors Associate Justice | State of Maine Judicial Branch Website

The Maine Judicial Branch has announced the temporary closure of the Newport District Court building located at 12 Water Street in Newport, Maine. The decision comes as authorities assess and address mold issues within the premises. "We are working with the owner of the building to determine the extent of the problem and make a plan for remediation," stated Judicial Branch State Court Administrator Amy Quinlan. The building will remain closed until a solution is found.

During this period, all in-person court proceedings and clerk's office operations have been moved to the Penobscot Judicial Center at 78 Exchange Street in Bangor. Correspondence intended for Newport District Court should still be directed to its original address on Water Street.

Remote hearings scheduled via Zoom or telephone will proceed as planned, using existing connection details provided in hearing notices. The contact number for the Newport clerk's office remains unchanged at 207-368-5778.
