United States District Judge Richard A. Lazarra has sentenced Jonathan Javier Godoy-Pivaral, a 29-year-old Honduran national, to over five months in prison for illegal reentry into the United States after being removed. Godoy-Pivaral entered a guilty plea on November 6, 2024.
Court documents reveal that Godoy-Pivaral was initially removed from the United States on February 26, 2018. He later unlawfully reentered the country and was subsequently arrested for burglary of an unoccupied conveyance on June 19, 2024, in Hillsborough County.
The investigation of this case was conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement - Enforcement and Removal Operations. The prosecution was handled by Assistant United States Attorney Lindsey Schmidt and Special Assistant United States Attorney Joseph Wheeler, III.
