Wyatt Swan, a 48-year-old resident of Washington, D.C., has entered a guilty plea for the second-degree murder of his wife, Teresa Francisco. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Edward R. Martin Jr. and Chief Pamela Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).

The crime took place on March 1, 2024, at approximately 1:00 p.m., in Northeast Washington. According to evidence presented by the government, Swan shot Francisco in their shared apartment located in the 900 block of Eastern Avenue. When Francisco attempted to escape and hid in a nearby work van, Swan pursued her and fired multiple shots into the vehicle, resulting in her death. After committing the act, he fled from the scene.

Swan was apprehended on October 2, 2024, with help from the Prince George's County Police Department and has been held in custody since his arrest.

The case is set for sentencing on March 21, 2025, as scheduled by Judge Jason Park of the D.C. Superior Court.

In their statement about the plea agreement, U.S. Attorney Martin Jr. and Chief Smith acknowledged the investigative efforts of those involved from both the Metropolitan Police Department and Prince George's County Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Gregory Evans handled both investigation and prosecution.
