A Newton man, Charles Gordon Feagins, 24, was sentenced to 100 months in federal prison for the receipt of child sexual abuse material. The sentencing took place on January 15, 2025.

Court documents reveal that between October 2022 and January 2024, Feagins purchased and received images and videos containing child sexual abuse material. A search of his residence led to the seizure of electronic devices with over 500 such images and videos.

Following his prison term, Feagins will undergo a fifteen-year supervised release period. He is also required to pay $45,000 in restitution and register as a sex offender. There is no parole available in the federal system.

United States Attorney Richard D. Westphal of the Southern District of Iowa announced the sentencing. The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation-Child Exploitation Task Force.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 to address child sexual exploitation and abuse. It aims to enhance efforts at federal, state, and local levels to apprehend individuals exploiting children online and rescue victims.
