Delia L. Smith U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the District of Virgin Islands

United States Attorney Delia L. Smith announced that Danny Dennevil, also known as Danny Dorcine-Turnbull, has been sentenced to 92 days in prison. Dennevil, a 34-year-old from Tortola, British Virgin Islands, pleaded guilty to the charge of illegally bringing aliens into the United States.

Court documents reveal that on September 25, 2024, Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations agents observed a small vessel traveling without navigational lights from the British Virgin Islands towards Leinster Bay, St. John. The vessel was operated by Dennevil. Upon arrival at Leinster Bay, two individuals disembarked from the vessel. Agents intercepted Dennevil's attempt to flee and apprehended two Dominican Republic nationals who had disembarked. Neither individual had legal status in the United States.

During questioning, Dennevil admitted awareness that Leinster Bay was not a legal port of entry and acknowledged his passengers were citizens of the Dominican Republic.

The investigation involved Homeland Security Investigations, Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations, and the United States Coast Guard. Assistant United States Attorney Kyle Payne prosecuted the case.
