Alexander J. Short, a 26-year-old resident of Phoenix, Arizona, has been sentenced to 240 months in prison by United States District Court Chief Judge Holly A. Brady. The sentence follows Short's guilty plea to charges of conspiring to distribute and possess with intent to distribute fentanyl, as announced by United States Attorney Clifford D. Johnson.
In addition to the prison term, Short will undergo five years of supervised release upon completion of his sentence.
Court documents reveal that between 2020 and 2023, Short was involved in a conspiracy aimed at supplying fentanyl pills to a distribution group operating in the Northern District of Indiana.
The investigation into this case was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Fort Wayne Safe Streets Gang Task Force. This task force includes contributions from the Indiana State Police, Allen County Sheriff’s Department, and Fort Wayne Police Department. Additional assistance came from the Drug Enforcement Administration’s North Central Laboratory, Phoenix Police Department, Glendale Police Department, and Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. The prosecution team included Assistant United States Attorneys Anthony W. Geller and Lesley J. Miller Lowery.
This case is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) investigation which aims to identify and dismantle high-level drug traffickers and criminal organizations through a coordinated approach involving federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.
