North Carolina Attorney General appoints new senior leadership team

Attorney General Jeff Jackson has announced the addition of several members to his senior leadership team at the North Carolina Department of Justice. The new appointees bring diverse experiences and backgrounds to their roles.

“These colleagues are smart, public-spirited people who are committed to doing the job right,” stated Attorney General Jeff Jackson. “I’m grateful that they’ve agreed to join my team and look forward to working with them to defend and protect the people of North Carolina.”

Stephanie Robinson has been appointed as General Counsel. She previously served as Deputy General Counsel and Chief Records Officer for the North Carolina Department of Transportation since 2019. Her legal career includes a decade at The Jeffers Law Firm in Raleigh, focusing on family law and criminal defense cases.

Kelly Chambers will serve as Civil Bureau Chief. Chambers has been with the Department of Justice since 1995, most recently as Senior Deputy Attorney General in the Civil Division. Her experience includes representing various state agencies such as the Department of Health and Human Services.

Boz Zellinger takes on the role of Criminal Bureau Chief. Since 2018, he has worked as a special prosecutor in the Criminal Division, leading investigations into crimes including those against children and public corruption.

Kunal Choksi is named Consumer Protection Division Director after serving as Special Deputy Attorney General since 2022. His notable work includes leading a multistate trial against Google for monopoly practices.

Carlye Wittek becomes Legislative Director following her tenure as Legislative Liaison for the North Carolina Department of Public Safety where she dealt with budgetary and policy issues.

Natalia Botella steps in as Interim Public Protection Section Director. She joined from Governor Roy Cooper's office where she focused on public safety initiatives like NC SAFE, which promotes safe firearm storage.

Tina Wong is appointed Interim Human Resources Director after serving as Deputy HR Director since 2024 within the department.
