California Attorney General Rob Bonta has announced that the California Department of Justice is investigating an officer-involved shooting in South San Francisco. The incident, which took place on May 14, 2025, involved officers from the South San Francisco Police Department and the San Bruno Police Department. It resulted in the death of one individual.
The investigation is being conducted under Assembly Bill 1506 (AB 1506), which mandates an independent review by the DOJ's California Police Shooting Investigation Team. Once completed, the findings will be forwarded to the DOJ’s Special Prosecutions Section within the Criminal Law Division for further examination.
Attorney General Bonta stated, "Anyone that has information related to this officer-involved shooting incident and wishes to report it may do so by calling (916) 210-2871."
