United States Attorney Ronald C. Gathe, Jr., has announced that Damond Reynard Lockett, a 51-year-old resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, received a sentence of 105 months in federal prison. The sentencing by U.S. District Judge Brian A. Jackson follows Lockett's convictions for possession with intent to distribute heroin and fentanyl and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. In addition to the prison term, Lockett will serve four years of supervised release after his imprisonment and is ordered to forfeit the firearms involved.

During his plea admissions, it was revealed that on May 6, 2020, narcotic detectives from the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant at Lockett's Bayou Fountain apartment. The search led to the discovery of over 100 grams of a mixture containing heroin and fentanyl in three bags located in Lockett's bathroom, along with a loaded firearm found in his bedroom closet.

Lockett committed these offenses while on supervised release for his 2015 federal conviction involving conspiracy to distribute cocaine and cocaine base, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, and unlawful use of communication facilities in the Middle District of Louisiana.

The investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office. Assistant United States Attorneys Eli Abad and Jessica Thornhill, who also serves as Deputy Chief of Economic Crimes, prosecuted the case.
