Attorney General Michelle Henry has reached a settlement with Sundance Vacations, a travel company based in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania. The agreement addresses allegations of deceptive practices including bait-and-switch pricing and misleading sales tactics. As part of the settlement, Sundance Vacations will pay $500,000 to consumers affected by these practices.

The settlement mandates that Sundance Vacations must clearly disclose all costs associated with their travel packages upfront. Additionally, certain consumers will have the opportunity to cancel their contracts within 30 days of receiving a cancellation notice.

Attorney General Henry highlighted that Sundance misled customers into believing they were securing affordable vacation deals when the full costs were concealed. "Sundance misled Pennsylvanians into thinking that they were getting significant bargains on pricey vacations, when, in reality, Sundance was just hiding the final bill," she stated. She emphasized that such pricing strategies would not be tolerated in Pennsylvania.

The Office of Attorney General accused Sundance Vacations of violating the Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law through various misleading sales techniques. These included misrepresenting vacation package prices and product values compared to competitors, failing to provide adequate review opportunities for written materials, using high-pressure sales tactics, and falsely representing sponsorships and sweepstakes prizes.

Consumers who have previously filed complaints against Sundance may receive restitution from the Office of Attorney General. Others who believe they are eligible can file complaints until May 16, 2025.

Under the settlement terms, eligible consumers who opt to cancel their contracts will have any related financial obligations voided. Their loans will be marked as paid in full with credit bureaus. Any future bookings with Sundance will be canceled and fees refunded.

The Attorney General's office encourages those affected by Sundance’s business practices to file a complaint online or contact them via phone or email for potential restitution consideration.

This legal resolution was submitted in Luzerne County's Court of Common Pleas by Senior Deputy Attorney General Jim Wise and Deputy Attorney General Pat Gavin.
