Fayette County man sentenced for drug crimes involving methamphetamine and fentanyl

Jeff Allen Adkins, a 66-year-old resident of Fayetteville, has been sentenced to over 12 years in federal prison for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl. The sentence also includes three years of supervised release.

The case against Adkins began on May 8, 2022, when law enforcement officers stopped the vehicle he was traveling in as a passenger in Oak Hill. A search revealed approximately 113 grams of fentanyl and 109 grams of methamphetamine. Adkins admitted to possessing the drugs with the intention to distribute them.

Adkins' criminal record includes previous convictions for grand larceny, breaking and entering, possession of a controlled substance, carrying a concealed weapon, hit and run, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

United States Attorney Will Thompson announced the sentencing and praised the work done by the Oak Hill Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

Chief United States District Judge Thomas E. Johnston delivered the sentence. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Timothy D. Boggess, Alexander A. Redmon, and Ryan Blackwell.
