A federal jury in Corpus Christi has found a local man guilty of being a felon in possession of a firearm. U.S. Attorney Alamdar S. Hamdani announced the verdict against 30-year-old Michael Pulido.

The jury reached its decision after deliberating for 17 minutes following a one-day trial. The incident leading to the charges occurred on February 7, 2024, when authorities responded to a criminal mischief complaint at a local apartment complex. Their investigation revealed that Pulido had fired four gunshots inside his apartment.

Further checks showed that Pulido had previously been convicted of a felony, which prohibits him from possessing firearms or ammunition under federal law.

During the trial, the defense argued that the firearm belonged to another individual. However, the jury was not persuaded and found Pulido guilty as charged.

U.S. District Judge Nelva Gonzales Ramos presided over the proceedings and scheduled sentencing for April 15. Pulido could face up to five years in federal prison and a maximum fine of $250,000.

The investigation was conducted by the Corpus Christi Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Yasmine Tucker and Ashley Martin handled the prosecution.
