Huntington man admits guilt in fentanyl distribution case

Devontay Brian Johnson, a 29-year-old resident of Huntington, West Virginia, has pleaded guilty to the distribution of fentanyl. The plea was entered today in court.

Court documents reveal that on August 3, 2022, Johnson sold approximately 20 grams of fentanyl to a confidential informant while parked in a vehicle along Wilson Place in Huntington.

Johnson is set for sentencing on May 5, 2025. He faces up to 20 years in prison, a minimum of three years of supervised release, and a potential fine of $1 million.

United States Attorney Will Thompson announced the plea and praised the investigative efforts of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

The hearing was overseen by United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers. Assistant United States Attorney Lesley C. Shamblin is handling the prosecution.
