Anthony Coates, a 29-year-old resident of Sacramento, has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for methamphetamine distribution. The sentencing was handed down by U.S. District Judge John A. Mendez on Tuesday, as announced by U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert.
Court documents revealed that Coates sold one pound of methamphetamine in March 2024 and three pounds in April 2024 to an undercover agent. Additionally, he distributed methamphetamine along with counterfeit Xanax and Adderall pills on several occasions during 2023 and 2024.
The investigation leading to this case was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. They received assistance from the Central Valley High-Intensity Drug-Trafficking Area Task Force and the Citrus Heights Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Haddy Abouzeid led the prosecution.
