The Honorable Gary Fairman of the Seventh Judicial District Court, Department 2, is set to retire on April 4, 2025. The district covers Eureka, Lincoln, and White Pine counties. To fill this upcoming vacancy, the Nevada Commission on Judicial Selection will assess qualified candidates for the position.

Chief Justice Herndon has urged attorneys considering a judicial role to apply. "This is an important time for experienced Nevada attorneys to contribute to the administration of justice by joining the judiciary," stated Chief Justice Herndon. "Serving as a judge in the seventh judicial district offers the unique opportunity to make a lasting impact on the local justice system and the lives of those you serve."

He highlighted that judges appointed in rural communities play crucial leadership roles by promoting access to justice and ensuring fair resolutions for all residents. The application period is currently open and closes at noon on February 12, 2025. Interested candidates should contact Ms. Margarita Bautista at mbautista@nvcourts.nv.gov from the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) for application materials and submission guidelines.

Further details about application instructions are available online.
