A Pittsburgh resident has entered a guilty plea in federal court for possession with intent to distribute more than 500 grams of cocaine, as announced by United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan.

David Loveings, aged 71, admitted guilt to one count before United States District Judge Christy Criswell Wiegand. The case details revealed that Loveings was stopped by officers from the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police for various traffic violations. This stop led to a vehicle search and the discovery of approximately 927 grams of cocaine.

Sentencing is set for May 13, 2025, by Judge Wiegand. The law stipulates a potential sentence ranging from five to forty years in prison and a fine up to $5 million. However, the actual sentence will consider the seriousness of the crime and any prior criminal history.

Assistant United States Attorney Brendan T. Conway is representing the government in this prosecution.

The investigation leading to Loveings' prosecution was carried out by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police.
