Jacksonville, Florida – A 32-year-old man from Jacksonville, Austin Adams, has been sentenced to three years in federal prison for possessing child sexual abuse material. The sentence was handed down by Senior United States District Judge Timothy J. Corrigan. Adams had pled guilty to the offense on September 24, 2024. After serving his prison term, he will be under supervised release for a decade and must register as a sexual offender.
Court documents reveal that on March 20, 2024, Adams used cryptocurrency to purchase child sexual abuse material. He spent nearly $1,000 on a website later shut down due to its distribution of such content. Law enforcement discovered his transactions and subsequently searched his residence. A forensic examination of his phone uncovered multiple images and videos depicting child sexual abuse material, some exceeding 45 minutes in length.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted the investigation into this case. Assistant United States Attorney John Cannizzaro prosecuted the case.
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative started by the Department of Justice in May 2006 to address the rising issue of child sexual exploitation and abuse. This program aims to utilize federal, state, and local resources effectively to locate and prosecute those exploiting children while identifying and rescuing victims.
