A Newcomb resident has admitted guilt in a federal case involving sexual contact with minors. Roderick Bitsilly, 61, who is an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, confessed to engaging in inappropriate conduct with two children under the age of 12.

Court documents reveal that Bitsilly admitted to having sexual contact with Jane Doe 1 between February and August 2014. He also pleaded guilty to similar charges concerning Jane Doe 2 from September 2019 to September 2020.

Bitsilly is currently held in third-party custody at a halfway house while awaiting sentencing. Although the date for sentencing has not been set, he could face up to 75 months in prison. Following his release, Bitsilly will be required to undergo supervised release for a minimum of five years and potentially for life. Additionally, he must register as a sex offender.

The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Alexander M.M. Uballez and Raul Bujanda, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office.

The investigation was conducted by the Gallup Resident Agency of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Caitlin L. Dillon is handling the prosecution.
