A federal grand jury has indicted Ecknozzio C. Jackson, Jr., a 33-year-old resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The indictment charges him with the distribution of heroin and fentanyl, leading to death and serious bodily injury from their use. On January 2, 2025, Jackson appeared in court for his arraignment and entered a plea of not guilty to the charges.

Court documents reveal that on December 16, 2019, Jackson allegedly distributed heroin resulting in serious bodily injury after ingestion by an individual. The following day, he is accused of distributing heroin and fentanyl that led to the death and serious bodily injury of another individual.

Each count in the indictment carries a mandatory minimum prison sentence of 20 years, with the possibility of life imprisonment.

The Drug Enforcement Administration and East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office are investigating this case. Assistant United States Attorney Paul L. Pugliese is prosecuting the matter.

It is important to note that an indictment represents an accusation by a grand jury. The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty at trial or through a guilty plea.
