A Providence man has been sentenced to nearly six years in federal prison for trafficking fentanyl. United States Attorney Zachary A. Cunha announced that Stanli S. Arias De La Rosa, 31, received a 71-month prison sentence followed by three years of supervised release. Arias pleaded guilty on April 30, 2024, to possession with the intent to distribute fentanyl.

Arias was arrested by members of the Rhode Island DEA Drug Task Force in March 2023 after a court-authorized search of his residence uncovered narcotics including approximately 454.9 grams of fentanyl, along with cocaine and crack cocaine. Authorities also found digital scales and other items used for drug distribution inside the apartment he shared with five others, including two infants.

Previously, Arias had been arrested in Nebraska during a traffic stop when approximately 10 kilos of cocaine were discovered in his vehicle. He did not return to Nebraska to face charges after being released following his arraignment.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Christine D. Lowell and investigated by the Rhode Island DEA Drug Task Force alongside the Smithfield Police Department.
