U.S. Attorney honors law enforcement professionals with excellence awards

United States Attorney Carlton S. Shier, IV recognized numerous law enforcement professionals for their contributions to investigations and prosecutions in the Eastern District of Kentucky. The 2024 Law Enforcement Excellence Awards were presented at a ceremony held at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Lexington.

The awards highlighted exceptional work across several cases that are priorities for the office, including violent crime, drug trafficking, overdose deaths, elder fraud, COVID fraud, government fraud, public corruption, and child exploitation.

“We simply cannot effectively prosecute federal crimes without the dedicated and difficult work of our investigative partners in law enforcement,” stated United States Attorney Shier. “These recipients were each nominated by our prosecutors for their tireless, invaluable, and noteworthy efforts in a number of significant, complex, and difficult cases. We are pleased to recognize their exceptional efforts; we commend them for their dedication to public safety; and we sincerely thank them for their critical assistance in helping us successfully prosecute these impactful cases.”

Honorees included Jeff Price from ATF; Bill Brislin from Georgetown Police Department and DEA Task Force Officer; Steve McCown from Lexington Police Department and DEA Task Force Officer; Paul Megilligan from Danville Police Department; Mike Hughes as DEA Diversion Investigator; Jared Sullivan as DEA Special Agent; Chelsea Holliday as FBI Special Agent; Zachary Bryson from Kentucky State Police and FBI Task Force Officer; Eric Long as Forensic Examiner with Kentucky Office of Attorney General and U.S. Secret Service Task Force Officer; Jason Jarvis as Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration Special Agent; Remington Schilling as U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Inspector General Special Agent.
