A woman from Jonancy, Kentucky, has been sentenced to 135 months in prison for drug trafficking offenses. Sasha Adkins, aged 37, received the sentence from Chief U.S. District Judge Danny C. Reeves for possession with intent to distribute over 50 grams of methamphetamine and fentanyl.

The case against Adkins was built on evidence collected during a search of her residence on June 16, 2023. Law enforcement officers seized approximately 360 grams of methamphetamine, around 28 grams of fentanyl, $4,975 in cash, and 12 firearms. The plea agreement revealed that Adkins intended to distribute the drugs.

Federal law mandates that Adkins serve at least 85 percent of her sentence before being eligible for release. After serving her time in prison, she will be under the supervision of the U.S. Probation Office for five years.

The sentencing announcement was made by Carlton S. Shier IV, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky; Michael Stansbury, Special Agent in Charge at the FBI's Louisville Field Division; and Col. Phillip J. Burnett Jr., Commissioner of the Kentucky State Police.

The investigation leading to Adkins' arrest and conviction was conducted by the FBI and Kentucky State Police (KSP). Assistant U.S. Attorney Drew Trimble is handling the prosecution on behalf of the United States.
