A Memphis man has been found guilty by a federal jury for methamphetamine possession with intent to distribute and multiple firearm-related offenses. The verdict was announced by Reagan Fondren, Acting United States Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee.

The court heard that on July 13, 2022, detectives from the Multi-Agency Gang Unit executed a search warrant at an apartment in Memphis where Andre Blue, aged 37, resided. During the search, they discovered several firearms including a loaded Glock Inc. .45 caliber pistol, a Sig Sauer Inc. 9mm caliber pistol, and a loaded Smith and Wesson .45 caliber pistol in the primary bedroom. Additionally, 15 grams of pure methamphetamine were found in the toilet bowl of the primary bathroom. An American Tactical Imports Inc. multi-caliber pistol was also located in a child's bedroom closet alongside a magazine with over 50 live rounds.

On February 23, 2023, another search warrant was executed by detectives from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office at another residence occupied by Blue. They found a Sig Sauer pistol under the primary bathroom sink along with various drug-sale paraphernalia.

Blue's prior felony convictions prohibit him under federal law from possessing firearms and ammunition. Following a three-day trial on November 20, 2024, Blue was convicted of possession of a firearm as a convicted felon, possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking, and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

Blue is facing mandatory minimum sentences: five years for possession of five grams or more of actual methamphetamine and an additional consecutive five-year sentence for possessing a firearm related to drug trafficking activities. Sentencing is scheduled for February 26, 2025 before United States District Judge Jon P. McCalla.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence through collaboration between law enforcement agencies and communities. Launched on May 26, 2021, this initiative focuses on building trust within communities, supporting organizations that prevent violence, setting strategic enforcement priorities, and evaluating outcomes.

The investigation involved the PSN Gun Task Force alongside the Multi-Agency Gang Unit and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.

Acting United States Attorney Fondren expressed gratitude towards Assistant United States Attorneys Eileen Kuo and Regina Brittenum who prosecuted the case and acknowledged the contributions from law enforcement partners involved in the investigation.
