A Westbrook man has been sentenced in U.S. District Court in Portland for illegal firearm possession. Corey Faulkner, 39, received a 64-month prison sentence followed by three years of supervised release, as announced by U.S. District Judge John A. Woodcock, Jr.
Court records reveal that in October 2023, officers from the Westbrook Police Department responded to a domestic violence report at Faulkner's residence. The victim reported being assaulted and strangled by Faulkner and informed officers that he possessed firearms and had made suicidal statements. After losing communication with law enforcement, a perimeter was established around the residence, and nearby buildings were ordered to shelter-in-place.
Officers obtained an arrest warrant for Faulkner and used drones and a robot to locate him in a bathroom after breaching the building’s basement. Faulkner surrendered following an eight-hour standoff when the bathroom window was breached.
During searches of the residence, officers recovered a 12-gauge shotgun, ammunition, a 9mm pistol case, and additional ammunition. A second search uncovered a 9mm pistol in a kitchen cabinet. Due to his criminal history, Faulkner was prohibited from possessing firearms.
Faulkner's previous convictions include operating under the influence, endangering child welfare, domestic violence assault in 2013, and aggravated assault in 2018 involving violent acts against women.
The investigation was conducted by the Westbrook Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
