A man has been sentenced to fourteen and a half years in prison for a series of carjackings at gunpoint in Chicago. Earrious Moore, aged 30, was involved in multiple incidents on a single afternoon in April 2018. During these events, he stole three cars, attempted to steal two more, and shot two individuals.

One of the victims was shot in the back of the shoulder while sitting in a Mercedes-Benz on North DuSable Lake Shore Drive. The victim received medical treatment at a hospital. Moore fled from the scene but was later apprehended by Chicago Police officers in a nearby building's lobby.

Moore pleaded guilty earlier this year to charges of carjacking, attempted carjacking, and firearm offenses. U.S. District Judge Elaine E. Bucklo delivered the sentence during a hearing held on Friday at the federal court in Chicago.

The announcement of Moore's sentencing was made by Morris Pasqual, Acting United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois; Christopher Amon, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Field Division of the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives; and Larry Snelling, Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Alejandro G. Ortega stated that "the violence and terror the defendant wrought on the victims of his carjacking spree will likely never be forgotten by his victims and those who witnessed these appalling events."
