Wilburton man pleads guilty to illegal firearm possession

Charles Henry Lawrence, a 57-year-old resident of Wilburton, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to a federal firearm charge. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma confirmed that Lawrence admitted to illegally possessing a firearm.

According to the indictment, on November 11, 2022, Lawrence was found in possession of a revolver and a rifle despite having been previously convicted of a crime punishable by more than one year in prison.

The case was investigated by the Latimer County Sheriff’s Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The plea was accepted by U.S. Magistrate Judge Jason A. Robertson in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. A presentence investigation report has been ordered, and Lawrence will remain under the custody of the United States Marshals Service until sentencing.

The prosecution is being handled by Assistant United States Attorney Jonathan E. Soverly.
