A federal grand jury in Alaska has indicted an Anchorage man for his alleged involvement in a series of bank robberies. Court documents state that Sean Javier, 36, is accused of using force and intimidation to steal approximately $3,162 from three different local credit union branches between September 23 and October 16.

The indictment further alleges that on October 20, Javier was found in possession of two firearms. Javier's criminal history includes a conviction for stalking in the first degree in June 2013 by the Superior Court for the State of Alaska and a bank robbery conviction in June 2020 by the U.S. District Court for the District of Alaska, classifying him as a felon at the time he possessed the firearms.

Javier was arrested on October 20 due to a probation violation related to his previous conviction in 2020. He faces charges including three counts of credit union robbery and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. His initial court appearance will be scheduled before a U.S. Magistrate Judge at the U.S. District Court for the District of Alaska. If convicted, Javier could face up to 20 years imprisonment; however, any sentence will be determined by a federal district court judge considering various guidelines and statutory factors.

U.S. Attorney S. Lane Tucker from the District of Alaska and Special Agent in Charge Rebecca Day from the FBI Anchorage Field Office announced these developments. The FBI Anchorage Field Office is leading the investigation with support from the Anchorage Police Department.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Seth Brickey is handling prosecution duties for this case.

It should be noted that an indictment serves only as an allegation; all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt in court.
