Detroit man sentenced to over eight years for drug distribution

Evann Robinson, a 40-year-old resident of Detroit, Michigan, received a prison sentence of eight years and four months, followed by three years of supervised release. The sentence was for the distribution of methamphetamine.

Court documents revealed that on May 9, 2023, Robinson sold methamphetamine to a confidential informant in Beckley. Subsequently, on May 15, 2023, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Robinson's residence in Beckley. They seized methamphetamine, fentanyl, cocaine, and $9,350 in cash which included $40 in recorded buy money.

Robinson's criminal record includes previous convictions for assault with intent to do great bodily harm and various firearm-related offenses.

United States Attorney Will Thompson announced the sentencing and praised the investigative efforts of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) along with the Beckley/Raleigh County Drug and Violent Crime Unit. This unit comprises officers from the West Virginia State Police, Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department, and Beckley Police Department.

Chief United States District Judge Frank W. Volk handed down the sentence. Assistant United States Attorney D. Keith Randolph prosecuted the case.
