A Jacksonville man has pleaded guilty to making a false statement to a federal agency, according to the United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg. Robert David Gulledge, 59, faces up to five years in federal prison after admitting to creating a fraudulent military discharge document. The sentencing date remains undetermined.

Court documents reveal that Gulledge falsified Form DD-214 by including incorrect information about his service in the United States Marine Corps. He falsely claimed several military positions and awards he never received. In 2009, he used this document to secure an Intelligence Analyst position on a government contract. Gulledge later submitted the same false form for two more government contract positions in 2017 and 2023. Additionally, he used it while appealing a denial of a Veterans Affairs disability claim.

The investigation was conducted by multiple agencies: the U.S. Department of State's Diplomatic Security Service Office of Special Investigations, the Department of Veterans Affairs - Office of Inspector General, and the Defense Criminal Investigative Service. Assistant United States Attorney Kelly S. Milliron is prosecuting the case.
