Hugo resident pleads guilty to possessing child sexual exploitation material

A resident of Hugo, Oklahoma, Steven Mark McAnally, 65, has pleaded guilty to possessing material involving the sexual exploitation of a minor. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma made the announcement following McAnally's plea to one count related to this offense.

According to the indictment, in July 2023, McAnally knowingly possessed visual depictions from the internet showing minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. These materials were accessed with the intent to view them.

The case was investigated by both the Choctaw Nation Lighthorse Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Gerald L. Jackson accepted McAnally's plea in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. The judge ordered a presentence investigation report and remanded McAnally into custody under the United States Marshals Service until sentencing.

The prosecution was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Caila M. Cleary.
