A Georgia man has been sentenced to prison for his involvement in the January 6, 2021, breach of the U.S. Capitol. Michael Bradley, 50, from Forsyth, Georgia, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Reggie B. Walton to 60 months in prison. He will also serve three years of supervised release and pay a $2,000 fine.
Bradley was convicted of several offenses including civil disorder; assaulting, resisting or impeding officers; entering a restricted building with a deadly weapon; and engaging in physical violence in such a setting.
Court documents reveal that on January 6, Bradley carried a baton towards the Capitol's Lower West Terrace Tunnel. This location witnessed some of the day's most violent confrontations with law enforcement. Bradley attempted to assault officers twice within two minutes but retreated temporarily after being sprayed with a chemical agent.
Video footage later captured him swinging his baton at officers before leaving the area shortly thereafter.
The FBI arrested Bradley on September 7, 2023, in Forsyth, Georgia. The case was prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia and involved contributions from other federal agencies.
In total, over 1,572 individuals have been charged across nearly all states for crimes related to the Capitol breach. The investigation continues as authorities seek further information from the public.
